Hi everyone,

I am thinking about buying one of these as it is a great price with the reduction:

I've had a curved LG 34in ultrawide 3440 x 1440 since 2016 and I love the format, however I think I would enjoy the extra desktop area for work/productivity. However, I have two concerns:

1. More pixels to drive. I have a Sapphire Radeon RX 6800 NITRO+ OC 16GB and 5800X CPU. Would the impact be very noticeable? I don't play FPS shooters and I don't demand 60FPS! However, I would like a smooth experience in my flight sims - another reason why I love the ultrawide format!

2. This monitor does not have a USB-C input. Is this going to be a problem? Will graphics cards continue to have traditional display ports and HDMI ports for the next few years? I had always thought that USB-C would eventually replace everything.

Thank you!

Even if it had USB-C you'd still need a KVM solution to work comfortably across devices so you can share a proper keyboard & mouse, possibly a web cam too for meetings in case they could be from either system. The other thing is if you go for a separate laptop dock you potentially have less cables to connect as most docks also support Ethernet and presumably you could connect a USB switch connection to the dock. The crunch comes with the KVM solution, or rather a USB switch or software solution, the former has more flexibility if your systems aren't all under your admin control, otherwise you could use a software solution. The hardware solution also means not having to have all the systems turned on as may be the case with the software option if you want to make use of a device that doesn't have peripherals attached.

I don't think you'll have a problem with your graphics card or CPU as long as you don't mind topping out at 75 fps.

I think graphics cards will continue to support HDMI and/or DP for quite some time. The USB-C is really a convenience feature aimed at laptops but if the monitor doesn't have a built in KVM then the USB-C is more for the casual laptop home worker rather than a regular setup. It's a quick way for a mobile worker to hook up and use the laptop on a large screen and just make do with the laptop keyboard & mouse pad unless you take the setup further with regards to a KVM type option.
