hi all. I’m considering upgrading to ultrawide. With RDR2 coming out soon I’m thinking now’s a good a time as any.

Any advice on which on which to go for and which ones to avoid?

Cheers

Depending on budget etc, there are loads of options...

I’ve done a load or research lately and established that there are no ‘go to’ options, and QC is a lottery.

I decided to get a cheap stop gap for now while I await the new 38 inch LG, and subsequent reviews and user feedback.

To that end, I got an A1 graded refurb of a Predator X34.
It only cost £400, cosmetically it’s perfect, looks brand new. Better than standard QC as it’s a refurb and so has been specifically checked over during/post repair.
It OC’s to 94Hz, and there’s minimal back light glow.

I figured it’ll do until a real dead cert is released, and I can probably flog it on for £200 or even £300 by then.

However, Black Friday soon, so there could well be some bargains to be had on brand new panels...

What size are you after?

Good point. I’m away with work till December so I’ll keep an eye out.

How’s support for 21:9 these days ?

Happy with the X34 I got from the MM.

Hoping it'll be the last monitor I buy.

UW support is pretty good.

There's a lot of fixes out there for games that don't support it as well.

Depending how good of a ultrawide you want. If you want the top end one, they are currently limited by display port. You have to chose either frame rates or colours. Personally I am waiting for DP 2.0 next year to buy an ultrawide that has it all :
