So I've caught the sim racing bug over the last couple of months and so I am currently in the process of buying things for a static rig so I can get away from desk racing. I need a new monitor to go along with this, my budget is £300 to £400 and looking at ultrawides, just wondering what people would recommend in this pricw bracket?

Thanks

I could ramble for ages about this. I have been Sim Racing for about 4-5 years now and moving to UW was the best thing I did. I never had triples but I hate the idea of all that clutter - a single monitor setup is just much cleaner (for my liking anyway).

At that sort of money you are probably going to looking more at VA panel monitors although there are a couple of cheaper iPS offerings at that price range - notably the iiyama GB3461WQSU-B1 and Acer Nitro XV340CKP.
Those two are flat panels so if a curved was more to your liking then VA is your only option.
I don't personally care for curved screens however for an UW and for Sim Racing I'd definitely prefer a curve.
I would also advise to go for high refresh at least 100hz it makes so much difference to racing over 60hz.

All that said, a couple of options that jump out to me are:
  • Gigabyte G34WQC
  • AOC CU34G2 (100hz model)
  • AOC CU34G2X (144hz model)
You could also look at the Samsung Odyssey G5 although that has a much more pronounced curve so you'd need to be in to that sort of thing.

Hopefully others can shre their opinion/insight but that should give you a starting point.
