Does anyone here ultrawide on a 4k tv?

I have a 65'' TV 4k I sit about 3ft from it and I'm considering getting a GTX 1070ti+ and ultra-widing it for a while.

Any advice on pitfalls/pluses to this plan?

You mean gimping the resolution to show ultrawide image within the 4k screen? ie black bars on bottom/top.... pointless imho, cutting off vertical for no reason. (and I'm a huge proponent of Ultrawide as the superior aspect ratio)

Well unfortunately I can't get it to work with my oled + 290, I think it is down to the timings not being correct and from reading around, some people have damaged their displays by using incorrect timings so I don't want to risk it, however, nvidia gpus seem to work with less faff so......

Black bars are annoying but if you're talking about a 50+" TV and a TV with really good blacks i.e. oled, then it is a non issue, you don't notice the black bars as they are well..... "black", not light grey like most LCD displays and the screen/game area is still larger than even a 38" UW screen.

Whole point of 21.9 is to have a wider FOV without fish eye effect and it still works great even with a custom resolution on a 16.9 display.
