Hi,

Thinking of getting a 34" 21:9 monitor and trying to gauge performance on a 970. Most sites will tend to only show performance @ 1440p and 2160p. How much extra will the extra resolution zap?

PS - I know the 970 isn't ideal but would rather wait for next gen (i.e. arctic islands/pascal) before deciding what to upgrade to.

33% on top of 1440p I think.

I use dsr to get 3440x1400 on my 970 but it's only old or very well optimised games I can do it on.
But lower some details and you will be fine till pascal.

Thanks, I don't mind lowering some details a little - as long as I can get close to 60fps in most games I play. I could also play with lowering the res as the Dell I'm looking at isn't supposed to be too bad in that regard.

I'll have a play with DSR as I can close to the amount of pixels.

Yeah, it's gonna be rough, but with a bit of tinkering you'll definitely get an enjoyable experience even with a few compromises.
