Having problems trying to un-install battlefeild2 posted in the games section. But tried everything they said in there. Hope you guys can explain this method off removing it.

Looking here, http://www.quartertothree.com/game-talk/archive/index.php?t-23427.html

Its saying,

Try manually deleting the files and related items.

1. Delete your BF2 directory.
2. Delete the "c:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{04858915-9F49-4B2A-AED4-DC49A7DE6A7B}" - or wherever your Program Files directory is.
3. Delete the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2" registry entry.
4. Delete the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Cur rentVersion\Uninstall\{04858915-9F49-4B2A-AED4-DC49A7DE6A7B}" registry entry.

Ive done the first 2 points, on point 3 what does it mean by 'registry entry'?

Its means you have to go to the regedit and delete the registry entries HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2 and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows \Cur rentVersion\Uninstall\{04858915-9F49-4B2A-AED4-DC49A7DE6A7B}

I ran the ccleaner, but still looks like the info is still in the reg. Ive hardly touched the registry before, so Iam being carefull which is why iam asking for some sound advice.

The reason why Iam un-installing the game is because I installed the game on another partition, instead off where everything else is install. C.drive. Silly I know, it was a while ago, lack off knowledge. As its an old machine I wanted to tidy it up and re-install XP today, and want to uninstall all the apps that are on the D partiton instead off C!

Thanks again :)

Go to File>Export and export the key. Then delete it. If something goes wrong you can double click on the registry file to import it into the registry.

The one that is highlighted in blue in the left hand menu tree. Alternatively just export the whole registry. Or use RegSeeker and use the search feature for BF2 and Battlefield etc and delete relevant keys.

What you are doing is exporting the branch you selected. This is so when you delete it, if things go wrong you can put it back. Once you've exported the key, you have made a backup of it, so you can then delete it from the registry.

and, do the same for point 3?

Delete the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2"

Back-up then delete?
