I have a 1.6GB DVD ISO split across 5 .rar archives. I've added unrar from the repository so I can now see the .iso, but when I try to extract it, it claims to have worked but the .iso is nowhere to be seen. I don't have a Windows box to hand - is there a better bit of software I can try?

There is nothing wrong with unrar, try running it from within a terminal so you get more details of what's going on, paste the output here if it still wont work.

In a shell run: unrar x theFirstRar.rar

I've done that, it just tells me it has failed with no further explanation as to why.

I suspect the d/l was crap.

I am very clear about where I wanted it to be extracted. I have indulged you though, a search turned up nothing.

I'm surprised it doesn't give you any errors/warnings? :( Sounds like it might be corrupt volumes then, you could try it with the -kb switch to keep the extracted stuff even if its damaged. I use it a lot, and its always told me if an archive is damaged in anyway though.
