Hi guys
even with over a decade of pc building this issue has stumped me and i would appreciate any assistance
i have a R9 270x which has a switch on the side ( uefi or legacy ) .. now to get the card running when i first got it i had to set it to legacy ( im allmost sure ) however when i reboot the pc and press delete to enter the bios it just stays black and another hard reset is needed
ive tried using the UEFI setting on the card but again nothing and ive never heard of a graphic card stopping you accessing the bios
ive even tried the advanced settings in windows which should have a uefi option however its not visible within the options
at the moment its not a problem however you never know when you will need to access the bios
any assistance will be appreciated

If you are using a modern version of Windows and its installed in UEFI mode you can go Settings > Recovery > Advanced Start-up then when the machine reboots to the menu select troubleshooting and select UEFI firmware settings.

done that and no uefi option is avalible ... i think i may buy a cheap HD5450 just to use the vga connector and this should allow me to access the bios ( and will reset the cmos for good measure ) ...

in the same vein - have you tried other monitors, anything odd about the EDID your monitor might be presenting via hdmi ?
