Hi guys,

I have a networked hard drive on my lan, I have it mapped to my My Computer. I store pictures, music etc on there. For some reason everytime I try access it I get the following error:

ddff.jpg

All other machines on my lan including two laptops and a PS3 can access it. I can ping it ok and web browse onto it but it doesn't show in my network at all.

The only thing that my laptop has on that others don't is Hamatchi, would this have any issue?

Any ideas?

Cheers

You running any firewall/anti-virus software? If yes, temporarily disable and try and access the share.

I had this on an LG nas I had and what I did was change the ip addy of the Nas fron 192.168.0.4-192.168.0.5 rebooted the pc and it worked.

Worth a try I guess.

Hi guys,

Sorry for late reply. Still no look. I tried what;s suggested and no luck. The hard drive doesn't even show in Network so something is strange there? There's no way of blocking PC's or anything after logging onto the hard drive so I'm at a loss what it can be

Having said that, I can't see any devices on the network other than my computer...but we're all connected to the same router etc

Have you tried this.."Local Area Connection" and select Properties and then make sure that File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks in NOT unchecked.

Changing the port on the router or if you are running NORTON 360 that has a firewall as well.

EDIT=you could mess around with the NETBIOS over TCP/IP settings.

Are there any other/further messages listed in the windows logs?

control panel - administrative tools - event viewer. Somewhere in there you should be able to find the 0x800.... message that you are currently receiving. Check other logs around the same time stamp.

The error boils down to the hard drive being not found on the network from my laptop's view. I can see the hard drive on other Laptops, PS3 etc, just not this Laptop. The only thing this Laptop picks up is the router and the two Xbox's on the LAN.

Bizarre and really really frustrating. I have no idea what to look for.

The only things mine picks up are the media devices of the machine im on and the NAS drives media device. Really anoying as all other PC's on the network can see it. Link for my thread is here. May I ask what NAS you are using and what router?
