Hi all,

I'm moving house next month, and I won't be able to take virgin media with me. I'm on a 30 day rolling contract with them, and looking to cancel (at least 30 days as per their T&C).

For the last month, I've been trying to ring them, but I've had no luck. After 2 hours of waiting, the call goes dead. Today, I tried ringing, and now, I'm just told their moving house call centres are closed, and to visit their website.

The problem is, their website tells me to call them. I've tried following a link they give me when I ring, but I get a 404 error.

If I cancel my direct debit, it'll go on my credit history.

I'm unsure what to do, as I don't want to continue paying £45 a month, but equally, I don't want the account in arrears.

Any suggestions?

Many thanks :-)

Raise it as a complaint and state that you consider your 30 days notice to begin on the 26th May (next working day), tell them you will be settling the final bill via a card payment, then cancel your direct debit once you've had a confirmation back that your complaint has been received. You can't get a mark on your credit history just because one DD payment attempt fails - but if you don't want to cancel the DD then just phone your bank when they continue to take payment and use the DD guarantee scheme to get the charge reversed, keep doing this until they bother to acknowledge that you cancelled.

Take your Hub and any TV boxes with you when you move so that they cannot be used by anybody moving in in case VM want to dispute that you stopped using the services, and also so you can return them if necessary.

Lovely, thanks very much for the information - really appreciate it :-)
