Unable to change IP address

Hi i need to change my External IP address which is giving to me by my ISP in this case virgin media. This is because i have been IP banned from some of my Fav game servers / IRC channels. As far i am aware i have a dynamic ip but since day one of me being with virgin my external IP hasnt changed i beleive its because of the long lease times so Virgins dynamic IPS are basically static ips

I could go down the root of changing my IP address using proxy servers ect but i would rather change it using another method

I have left my router off overnight but it still didnt release my external IP

Contact the admins of the game servers, if you've been banned for a reason they won't unblock you (and hence will be even less happy if you work your way around it).

Admitting to being IP banned from a game server isn't going to help your cause, a lot of people will judge you on that alone and walk away.

My brother cheated on my account and the game servers banned him via IP address also some IRC channels banned him for being abusive

You could try rebooting your router, unlikely it'd get a new IP but it apparently does work for some people. Never worked for me though, but then again I'm not a smelly-cheat-cheat

hahahah

ok ive managed to get a new IP address had to clone my PC's MAC address to my router apparently Virgin media assigns IP addresses via DHCP and this is assigned via the routers MAC address so the only way i could have got another IP is to turn the router off and wait for the lease time to expire
