So i have a laptop at home that i cannot connect to the internet with wireless or even the wired connection, but in safe mode using the Administrator account i can.

I have ran virus scanners etc and still nothing.

I did notice that when i type in (for example) www.google.co.uk i get the following in the address bar http:///? www.google.co.uk

Is this something people have seen before?

And any other options for me to try and get this connected?

Using XP Home SP3

/Sorry a little hijack - Yeah i can ping.
Possible virus [Friends Laptop and it had no security, i've scanned with Spybot, malwarebytes and avira and found nothing]

Check insertion of characters not related to broken keyboard.

Could be that a rewrite rule has been inserted into your hosts file???? Hosts file gets checked first locally to translate domain name to IP address. Could be a virus now rewrites the domains you are typing in somehow.

Try another antivirus programme. I recommend nod32.com. Not free though.

Did you try with another browser?

Faulty keyboard is an interesting. the %20 character means its putting a space in. If you type the address in notepad then copy and paste it into the address bar does it happen? Its a bit of a long shot.

Id say its almost certainly a virus.

Tried with Firefox and nothing no connection, but does not do the same as it does in IE (the %20 thing).

Through the Command Promt i can ping google.co.uk and other addresses.
