unable to connect to some sites with xp

hi
just reinstalled xp on my lads pc and set up the internet connection . im trying to access the amd site for drivers and it stops me . any ideas.

Need to be a bit more specific than just stops you, does it give an error?

Are you using internet explorer? If so try Chrome instead.

None of the pages I checked use encryption, and this was on a xp system using firefox.

What sort of error pops up? A blank page?

Is the latest network drivers installed? I usually install this first before proceeding with other drivers.

ive just tried to get on Microsoft site and it says

this website has encountered a problem and cannot display the web page

Xp will only have a very old version of IE that won't be compatible with many modern websites, including MS's own. Download and install Chrome or Firefox.
