Hi, I have 4 pc's at home, all on the same home network, all from the same router (Belking G+Mimo). All pc's are using Win XP Home.
My two desktop pcs work fine via hardwired ethernet connections to the router. They can connect to other pcs on the network and to the net.
My netbook (Asus Eeepc 1000HE) also works fine via the wireless part of the network from the router, and connects to other pcs on the network and the net.
But the laptop (HP Compaq Presario), which has always worked fine, yesterday for some reason will not now connect, it now tries to connect to my router buts fails with an "aquiring network address" message. It tries to connect for some time (5 to 10 mins) then eventually says limited or no connectivity.
The laptop then cannot connect to the net or see other pc's on the network...
However, I can connect this laptop to other wifi networks ok. (I can tell because several of my neighbours have unsecured networks, and I can connect to those ok) so the laptop is working and the wifi card in the laptop is working ok.
So my router is working, and connects my other pc's and to the net, and my laptop is working and can connect to other wifi networks, but not to my router or the other pc's on my network?
I have tried deleting the wireless network, and then setting up a new connection, I have also checked and compared all the wifi settings on both my netbook (which connects ok) and my laptop (which doesn't connect), and they appear to be the same as far as I can tell, so a I am a bit stumped.
Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this problem or how it might be fixed?
As a last thought, which might be connected to this, can windows services become corrupted?
Thanx.....
