Does anyone else have the same issues when you try and create a ringtone in iTunes?

I receive this error message when I try to:

This is with a iTunes Plus album however, after searching on Google, it appears that users in the UK cannot use this feature. Just wanted to confirm whether it's true or not :(

I'm not really into ringtones, I just was being curious but not enough to create one manually :p

I also wanted to confirm whether or not if I'm the only one having the error message :o

Yeah I get the same error message, first time I've actually tried to use the feature. Using the latest beta of Audacity it is much easier to create them manually anyway.

This is so easy to do with QuickTime / Garageband / Audacity.

  • Set markers around the 40 second clip you want.
  • Export segment as .mp3/WAV/AAC*
  • Import segment in iTunes
  • Change iTunes preference to encode/import in AAC
  • Right click on file in iTunes, and select "Encode in AAC"
  • Close iTunes
  • Open up Macintosh HD> Home> Music>iTunes> iTunes Music>Unknown Artist
  • Find track and "Get Info" by right clicking on it
  • Change extension to .m4r (from m4a)
  • Confirm extension change
  • Drag file to desktop
  • Open iTunes
  • Drag newly modified xxxxx.m4r file in to iTunes
  • Sync with iPhone
  • Done

*If you have the option to export as AAC, you can skip to the "Get Info" stage :)
