Hi guys i have just built my pc but i am unable to enter bios using a usb keyboard as it does not turn on. Is there a way to enter the bios without the use of a keyboard or do i have to get a ps2 connection keyboard.

EDIT: Asrock Z68 Extreme 4 mobo

Best to use a PS2 keyboard and then once you are out of bios/have installed windows/booted into windows, you should be able to use a USB kb. Its best to keep a PS2 keyboard for things like that.

Im really annoyed with myself because i threw a ps2 keyboard out the other week. Also if i have to get one i cant install windows and enjoy my new pc till tuesday at the earliest because i will need to order one. I feel so stupid right now.
Just got to hope my mate has one but he cant check until hes girlfriend turns up at the park to keep an eye on the kids.

I had this problem the other day on my Asrock Z68. Turns out my keyboard was plugged into a USB 3 port. Moving it into one above the PS/2 port solved it.

I tried a USB to PS/2 adapter and it did nothing, which I though odd.

Hi, I am hopefully about to build a system using an Asus P8Z68-V PRO motherboard, so are you saying that as long as I plug my keyboard into a usb 2 port it will be detected
Thanks

not sure about asus, but in theory yes. dont know of any modern board that doesnt detect a usb keyboard, its just asrock disabled usb 3.0 legacy as default.

Thanks for that, I havn't built a system for quite a while and thought the first post referred to all boards, although I have seen another Asus with a ps2 port while going from page to page choosing a new one, lol

Havnt started building it yet, hopefully I will get the parts and start next week, I was just looking through forum looking for potential problems
