Hello,

I've had a search through the forum but can't seem to find anything releated.

I've got a fujitsu Siemens Scenic P300 with sis661fx on board graphics but all the current resaloution settings are the square CRT ones.

I have a new 19" widescreen monitor that requires 1440 x 900. I have seen the information on the fujitsu Siemens FAQ suggesting that to get this res size I have to flash the BIOS to a more up to date version.

I have downloaded the lastest BIOS and flash program for my machine (as well as the graphics driver) and done as instructed.

After doing the flash and installing the new drivers I can see no difference at all!!

The avaiable modes are still the square CRT sizes!!!

any ideas???

cheers in advance

Have you updated the drivers too for the graphics card? I would be tempted to un-install the drivers and re-install them for your graphics.

Yes i have flashed the BIOS and then uninstalled and reinstalled the lastest graphics drivers, but still no luck. :(

Next step personally I would go back to chat to someone from fujitsu. Seems to me when I glance with google there has been problems with the sis661fx chipset and modded bios files are needed to get widescreen. See what fujitsu says.

EDIT: on the other hand pop over direct to SIS and use their offical release driver.

right, I have installed the monitor drivers but still no 1440 x 900 screen size.

Since i had to walkdown to the other end of the building, I uninstalled the graphics and then reinstalled (with montior drivers already installed) but still no fix.

:) Thier the drivers I have!! :)

Meh! fresh install?

How about inserting a new graphics card and ditch that onboard poo.

I wish that was an option. ;)

Sadly I don't think the company will be willing to pay for 12 new graphic cards to make the screens we got for free silghtly less fuzzy.;)

Ah you see you did not mention that!

I suggest you contact fushitsu for more information.

warranty isn't an issue as thier about 5 years old.

I did see that, but have never edited a bios before I'm not that keen. ;)

Still awaiting for FSC to get back to me.

(thinknig i might have a go at the edit now....:D)

The bios is already modded. You just have to flash successfully without breaking all the systems ;)

The bios is already modded.

That was concerning a different mobo, so sadly wouldn't have worked on mine.

In the history of the latest bios for the mobo it only has vbios version 0.8 and not the updated one (2.35 i think).

Having spent most the afternoon on tin'er net I've found that this is not a unheard of thing.

There are loads of people in the same posistion, with different mobo's but otherwise execty the same.

I've got to get up early on the morror, so i bid fairwell.

But I'll have a bash and let you know what happens.;)
