Hi all,

I originally had windows 8.1 installed on my machine and i upgraded to 10 when the free upgrade came out, now my windows installation is corrupt and need to reinstall. I have created the recovery USB but i seem to be unable to install windows 10 straight onto my machine, do i need to install windows 8 first and then use the USB stick to upgrade to windows 10?

Kind Regards

once upgraded you can do a clean install with no issues.

do you get any errors at all? did you use the windows 10 tool to download the iso and create the usb stick?

if your using USB 3 port try USB 2 instead.

Ahhh OK, That's a problem. I seem to have misplaced my windows 8 disk. Thanks for getting back to me.

When i go to "reset my pc" it starts looking for a recovery partition etc, and cant find it. I can get hold of another Windows 8 disk so will need to do that.

Cheers
Richard
