Unable to Pin things to my Start Menu?

The top section of my start bar/menu is missing. The part which lets you pin things, for example Firefox and Email etc AND it's tiny!

I used to be able to simply drag a program onto my start button and it would pin, or I was able to right click the icon and select pin to start bar but for some reason I am not given that option anymore.

I can still pin things to my task bar and I really can;t figure out what to do. PLEASE HELP

Thanks for your reply but as I said in the OP, for some reason that option isn't available anymore:

Thanks also 'Gaming Girl' but it's not being able to pin things to my start menu which is bugging me, that did nicely make it bigger tho.

FIXED!!

Thanks for help but after doing more research I stumbled on 3 possible fixes. Ill post them here incase anyone else has this same problem and finds this thread.

1.

• Click Start > All Programs > Accessories.
• Right-click Command Prompt and select Run As Administrator.
• At the Command Prompt, type: regsvr32 shell32.dll

Now see if Pin to Start menu is back. If not, proceed to #2.


2.
Download (Right-click, Save Link/Target As) and run pinmenu.reg to import the settings into the Registry.

Restart the computer and check if the option is in your menu now. If not, proceed to #3.


3.

• Click Start, type regedit and open the Registry Editor.
• Click the plus sign next to HKEY_CURRENT_USER (may also be under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE)
  then Software
  then Microsoft
  then Windows
  then CurrentVersion
  then Policies
  then click on Explorer
• Look for a value named NoStartMenuPinnedList and delete it if it exists.

Close out of the Registry Editor, restart and give it a try. Hopefully these steps brought back the option. Step 3 was the one that fixed it for me.
