hello all,

I have a amilo pro laptop. it was a replacement my insurance company gave me after i dropped mine.

I am now however unable to play dvds from it. The sound is fine and i get a picture but it is really jerky.

I have the free divx codec installed.

I can play avi files fine and all drivers are up to date.

any ideas???

blastman:

A divx codec will not enable you to play DVDs, you need a DVD codec, go to Here scroll down to Video Codecs, download FFDShow, before installing it, uninstall the free divx codec, then install FFDShow, now see if that solves your problem, or simply download and install VLC Media Player in the Video Players section. :)

hi,

thanks for the reply.

I have done as instructed but no fix.

although i have to say that it has got better in vlc but media player is just as bad.

my on-board video card only 64mb with up to 128 shared memory (which i'm using) you do think this is to blame??????

i can't belive that this doesn't work.

i've always just bunged it in and whatched.

ok,

so i've tried the above but no joy. :(

As it stands vlc (perfered player) can play avi's with no issue. It can play dvd's from the drive but it is jerky. Not as bad as WMP but still un-watchable.

WMP is crap. It can play a dvd from the drive but the video is very jerky and no amount of setting changes make any difference.

I have tried playing a dvd from the hhd (copied over whole dvd) but this has no change on either player.

All i want is to be able to watch Band of brothers at work on a saturday afternoon. Is this to much to ask?????? ;)

Please help :(
