unable to play the darkness 2 help please!

Possible Solution 1: Launch the game with Novid added to launch options of Steam.
Possible Solution 2: Verify the game cache for errors. If there are corrupted files, try reinstalling the game.
Possible Solution 3: Disable or turn off your antivirus programs.
Possible Solution 4: Manually add The Darkness II The Darkness II.exe to your antivirus or firewall exceptions list.
Possible Solution 5: If your game installed on external hard drive so, copy Steam.exe and The Darkness II The Darkness II files from your external hard drive to C:\. Launch Steam.exe as administrator and let it update.

thanks for everyones help on this i have finally got it working it was my firewall (zone alarm) to get it working i have to hold crtl+alt+del click processes then click show all processes from all users then end the ISWSVC.exe process which has somthing to do with the firewall. i think it reactivates after 10 seconds so hopefully im still protected while playing the game.
