Hey all, figured i'd make a quick post on the forums due to OC's lines being busy. Basically my PC's have some problems thats causing me to reformat, unfortunatly im unable to reformat for some reason.

I put the windows vista(64x) disk into my drive and restarted, the computer proceeded to start up windows etc without even detecting the windows disk. To cut a long story short sometimes its detecting the cd and promting me about it, however when i select the very first and only option it gives which is to simply select windows vista to proceed into the next steps instantly goes on to load up and send me to my desktop.

I read through the vista manual which told me to search online about getting my dvd/cd drive to allow priority, only thing is i can't find the "boot order" option its talking about.

Does anyone have any idea's to fix this? Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Don't normally post on things like this but you need to make sure that the CD drive is the first boot device in the BIOS.

as said above, either alter your bios so the CD Drive is the first boot device OR I think you can press F12 or something when you turn your PC on (pressing it repeatedly is a sure fire way to make sure you dont miss when the PC gives you the option to press it lol) to get the boot device menu up so you can pick which device you want to boot from this time - this won't alter your boot device order and only boots from your chosen device this time. if you restart after it will boot from your HDD again first as it always did
