A colleague of mine has a Macbook running OSX 10.5.8 which I installed Avast for Mac onto about 2 years ago. Unfortunately the registration period ended and we can't get the new code into Avast as there is no way to enter a code in manually and if we try to renew automatically we get a WEB service is unavailable error message.
So I decided to try to remove Avast but this has proved very difficult. I 'uninstalled it' but when we restarted the Mac the Avast icon was in the task bar but greyed out. I googled for a manual delete instructions and delved into the Library and removed some folders but couldn't find a particular folder. Another restart followed and yet again the Avast icon, still greyed out, was still there.
Any ideas on how we can get Avast off? As the Mac is running OSX 10.5.8 we can't download/install the latest Avast for Mac on top and neither will anything like Sophos install.
