Unable to send message, retrying..

I'm quickly beginning to regret Giffgaff.

9 times out of 10 when I'm sat at my desk with at least 50% signal, I send a text message and my HTC Desire goes bonkers, constantly beeping saying 'Unable to send message, retrying'.

It annoys me with this for about 20 seconds before giving up. I'll then manually try re-sending and eventually, the message sends.

Why is this? I have signal - sufficient enough to have just held a crystal clear voice conversation!

Yes. It works in most places so I suspect its some sort of obscure signal issue.

And now I'm getting text messages 20 minutes after they were sent. Just got one timed at 20:20!

Oh and suprise suprise, I've replied and my Desire is constantly beeping at me saying message sending failed, retrying..

Never once had this with Vodafone.

Wow this really is annoying. I think half the problem is that the signal fluctuates so badly. One minute I have 3 bars. Next I have no coverage. Then 1 bar. Then 3. Then 2. Then no coverage. All without moving the phone.

The phones will drop texts and miss calls becuase the phone is connected to the 2G or 2.5G edge network. If you have a 3G connection the phone can upload/download data and receive texts and calls simultaneously, where as on 2G it doesn't have the necessary bandwidth.

I missed a call yesterday as well, my girlfriend rang me and asked why I hadnt answered a few seconds earlier - my phone had never rung...

I just sent a text message and immediatly received a reply to a previous message dated nearly 2 hours ago.

Is the O2 network really this bad?

Serously I'm going to wait for my Goodybag to expire then I'm moving. This is beyond a joke. As I type this my Desire is sat on my mousepad going 'beep beep' every 5 seconds with 'Unable to send, retrying'.

Oh, it's finally sent. Great

Ah well, at least I'm not tied into anything. Shame because the deal Giffgaff offer is exceptional.
