Xbox 360.....3 red quadrants. Again!

Argh. It's just the hassle/being without it that's annoying. It's the second one i've had..soon to be a third on the way.

It's been perfect since it arrived a few weeks back.

Nothing at all, just turned it on..clicked to log in. Went downstairs, came back up. Black screen. Turned it off, then back on. Red lights.

Gonna have a right moan at MS this time...can't be bothered ringing tonight but will tomorrow.

Working again now...but i know it wont last. Will ring MS in the morning.

Well...lasted a little less that i'd hoped. Switched back to the 360 after posting here and now i have....

I'm almost 100% sure it's not to do with heat...my room's pretty cool and the xbox and PSU both have plenty of room.

Have you got the 360 plugged directly into a mains socket?

Gotta admit, I'd be suspicious if you've plugged directly into the mains. I know this day and age it shouldn't be an issue, but if it wasn't there wouldn't be such things as surge protectors!

Personally, for the sake of a couple of quid, buy one and see how it goes with your next one. What have you gotta lose?

I do have one..just that it's full. When the next unit comes i'll plug it in the protector from the off.

These faults are starting to take the shine off what is truly an amazing console...and the only reason i haven't got myself a refund!

Im on my 3rd 360 now, and its ontop of a AV unit, the PSU's are well ventilated, and they hardly get warm to the touch.

Turn around is quick enough off MS, but atm im upto 1 replacement per month

Thing is..they don't actually return your xbox. It's a replacement..and one that could really be sent when the DHL people come to pick the broken one up. But hey, that would be asking too much.

I know, i asked about that with the first one that went back. why couldnt you do a drop and swap?

The answer i got was because they used to do that with the original xbox, but because the couriers didnt check the parcels, peeps were sending MS house bricks etc and getting xboxs in return

Which is a good point i suppose...it would probably massively slow down the returns process...especially considering the numbers they're dealing with!

Of course there were roughly 300,000 consoles in December in the UK, so for a 2.5% failure rate, 7500 consoles would have to fail in that month alone.

Sorry to drag this up. Recieved my box today to pack it all up. Thought i'd give it another go before i do. Guess what? It's working now.

Well, it's gone again. Just flicked back and it just had a blank screen..now the red lights have returned.

It was returned today. Again, excellent three-day turnaround. We'll see what happens now....

This time it is plugged in to a surge protector rather than straight in to a wall socket.

Really? That's awful. Ring them up and complain. Mention my turnaround time. When did you last play yours?

Mines just gone **** up as well. 3 quadrants on startup after it being blank for a while. Blank screen now and if it starts it crashes on the dashboard. What do I do?

The same thing everybody else does... ....then call MS. When did you buy yours?
