Unbranded cheap memory

My laptop is getting a bit slow as it only has 512mb, I want to upgrade it to 2gb. I have been offered some cheap unbranded memory and I don't really use my laptop much only to browse the internet etc. The memory does come with a lifetime warrenty so I can run tests etc and return it if it is no good.

I would be trying to overclock it or do anything I shouldn't with the ram.

Do you think I will be OK with this cheap unbranded memory or does it make a different to buy expensive branded memory?

most laptops/desktops you buy prebuilt come with el-generico ram to begin.

lifetime warrenty sounds a bit like micron/crucial to me. -
cant hurt to try it.

probably crucial or something by the lifetime guarantee, and just try it, run memtest86 or something though asoon as its installed just to make sure it works.

or just dump the lot and start again.
