Now i have an uncle right, he recently brought 3 computers, 2 for his 4 kids, and 1 for himself (porn etc, but wateva). the kids also have two laptops. Now he calls upon my serviceds to help fix stuff and usually gives me a fiver for a hour/two hour job. i dont really have a problem with that, the problem i have is how much he calls me and what the reasons are.

For instance, i could get up at 12, and he would phone me, ask if i was alright and say to me come down. I would ask why and the reason would be because the computer monitor was on when he come home, or to install Limewire on his ohter computer. Now im 16 years old, im pretty sure he does it to take advantage, im not sure but whatever.

The reason i made this thread was to see what i should do, im going tommorow to install some programs for him and rearange desktop icons.........how do i end this nightmare?

ye , doing absolutely nothing but getting dragged down his house, about 20-25 minutes, every day, pays me rarely btw, not eveerytime. and its a headache, HE DOESNT EVEN TRY.

this is his mental work-out.

Problem>hmmmmmm>Phone Nabil :)

See what im getting at.

Do you also have an uncle left? Where did he bring them?

Why not teach him or one of his kids how to install programs?

kids are little, ones like year 4, they all fight over the computer, teach 1, teach all + he dont trust his kids. its me or nobody tbh. so pathetic, i know i shouldnt say that about my own uncle but it is. I mean i have another uncle, who brought his computer, i tought him how to dload torrents twice, install and do stuff once or twice and now he never needs my assistance, when he does he phones and its sorted over the phone. This uncle makes me :mad::mad:

Not sure if this makes a difference but what cultural background are you from? If you are from good old anglo-saxon, stuff the relatives, christenings weddings funerals stock it is much easier to deal with this than if you are from a much more family oriented cultural base.

The bottom line is that this uncle has no respect for you or your time. You need to put a few cards up in Newsagents windows advertising your services at a reasonable rate - say £25 per hour. (You don't actually have to take any work). Then as a concession to your uncle because he is family tell him he can have your time at a discounted rate of £15 per hour. Then you must be stop being a gutless wonder and stand up for yourself. :)

I predict he will quickly leave you alone.

Can u do that, put ads up on newsagent windows advertising your services?

+ My uncle's the type of guy who would say you can;t charge your relatives.

Im from an Asian-Muslim type background and the family can be right *****.

Of course you can advertise personal services in newsagent windows :)

Does you Uncle do anything for you or your family? To my western way of thinking he is just an exploitative selfish penny-pinching so-and-so. Perhaps you and your family should start finding ways to put demands on him and see what happens.

That asian-muslim family thing can be a real pain. I have seen it at work in friends and work colleagues over the years. It can however be a source of real strength and support so lacking in more traditional British families on the other hand though.

ye i know its such a handful, all this respect this. of cousre respect your elders, dont say anythign out of line hanky panky rubbish. Do what he tells u to, pull me out of bed at 3:00 am and i still would have to go down.

Basically THG|Sargantanas has realy helped me, hes told me about a thing called remote assistance seen it on msn but never ever knew what it was.

i just phoned him , and told him about it hes having none of it. I cut the phone on him, he phoned me back and gave me a right earful. He said to me " you agreed to come down on saturday at 11". before i could get a word in he kept going on so i cut him off. Going down today, gonna do the jobs, explain remote assistance and that im not going down again.

all sorted now, told him whats what, in future remote assistance or if called out 20 quid per hour, cheers lads.
