Uncles PC Borked!

Hi all,

Being a family member that has a little bit of knowledge of pc's it means when ever something goes wrong i have to fix it lol...

So basically my uncle has an old school compaq, socket A amd etcetc, and its slowly starting to die... So from what he told me, he upgraded it with a slightly better gfx card which still looks ancient and some more ram. And it was working fine until a month or so later.

Basically it jsut crashed no BSOD, nothing just dies, sometimes the fans will spin up but nothing happens and since ive had it, its never got passed the log in page...

Any ideas guys im stumped!!!

Drawn too much power on PSU and blown it?

yea does sound like the psu is to blame

Ive only got the one thats in my main pc and i dunno if i cba to rip it all out again... He said he wanted to upgrade anyway so ill give him a phone today and tell him whats up with it.

But if it was the psu, then why would it boot , so the fans spin up and everything just not display anything... i r confuzzled!

It could be that the psu is getting temperamental or that it has damaged something on the motherboard.
