I'm looking at replacing both my old monitors in the next couple of months. Aiming for 27inch, IPS, g-sync at 1440 ... now I saw the ROG Swifts that are coming out in November and am seriously thinking about it (Asus PG279Q ROG Swift 27" 2560x1440 IPS G-Sync 165Hz Gaming Widescreen LED Monitor) .. but with all the negative comments about monitor issues I'm very undecided as to do it or not. One would be bad enough if there were problems but two !!!
Have they improved their quality control .. are the new screens worth it ?? Opinions please

Good reviews or not it really is the sensible option at the moment to wait till they are released and see the consumer reaction.

I have my north eye on the ASUS 4k IPS but no way will I be a test guinea pig. Oink. Oops wrong pig.

All you can do is minimise the risk. Don't pre-order, treat the mainstream reviews with a pinch of salt, wait for peer reviews to see how much drama there is after release. There will always be some, but if it's a good product it should be minimal.

Why 165Hz over the existing 144Hz models? You really are not going to notice 21Hz of difference.

I can imagine the 165Hz model costing way more than the Swift was on release, I'd be expecting £800 price tags... I'd rather just pick up a ROG Swift/Whatever Acer's model is (XB270HK?) for £540 to be honest.

I wanted to do that Jedi, but my desk would look weird with both monitors, and I'd be too afraid to get attached to G-Sync/144Hz and be torn between the two. Not a huge fan of multi-monitor setups any more either.

Yep I thought the same .. at least wait until opinions on what hey are really like are out there. It is a lot of money but I went for the GTX970 cards and these monitors will stretch their capabilities. No way for 4K unless I change GPU's .. I think I will take the advice and wait .. I'm in no hurry and the monitors I get will last me more than just a few years ... then it will be complete re-builds of both my computers ...
