Hi, i want some addictive games to pass time on my laptop and was wondering what everyones suggestions are i have got Civ and Football Manager but i usually rage quit FM and get bored.

Haha you've got the best two so far! Give something like broken sword a go as thats a pretty addictive sort of game (old point and clicks are brilliant fun)

Some of the ones I have on my Vostro 1500 (8600m) are

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!aA!AA!!- A reckless disregard for mavity (or something along those lines)
Braid
Nation Red
Age of Empires 3 (GFWL version which cost me, 97p)
Peggle
Shatter
Trine
World of Goo
Zombie Driver

All of them are quite good games. Shatter is annoyingly hard (or so I remember trying to get the steam treasure hunt achievement) and all should run on mid to high level settings on a fairly modern laptop.

I think the older Age of Empires games (I and II + Exps) are great for a quick game. Either custom games or even the storylines.

Uplink is a must for laptops.

Also, google about for some abandonware called Covert Action and run with Dosbox, its a great little game :D

VVVVVV is a good shout and totally undemanding as its pretty much 8bit! Prepare to swear a lot though, at the same time its the most satisfying and frustrating game I've ever played.

I say it everytime in these threads

Trackmania Nations Forever, its a free multiplayer arcade racing game with crazy stunts. The point of the game is not to be first across the finish line, but to have the best time at the end, so its all about perfecting your drive.

There is also a more conventional mode with laps, but thats not what trackmania is about to me.

It also REQUIRES steam.

Defence grid the awakening - really is a must have tower defence game.
Bob came in pieces
Magicka
Sol Survivor
Titan quest imortal throne
world of goo
puzzle quest
oddworld: abes oddysee
oddworld: abes Exoddus
Osmos
Rome total war
Braid

On my netbook I have PvZ, Peggle, Osmos & Psychonauts. All run fine and have been good at killing a few hours on planes and trains.
