Thread for discussing the new 'Under 21s Premier League' AKA Reserves football.

FIXTURES: http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/...lubId=ALL&paramComp_194=true&view=.dateSeason

Results & Tables currently aren't working on the EPL site, shall be added once they are up.

It's had a slight change this year where only Category One academies can take part. Teams are also limited to having three over 21 year old players in the side as well as an overage keeper.

It's been designed so that it's a tougher, competitive and more elite league which makes the transition to premier league football easier.

There are 23 teams, they are split into three groups.

After a double round-robin, teams are divided into three new groups based on league standing in the first half of the season, to ensure better-matched games in the second half of the season.

At the end of the second half of the season, the winners of the two "Qualification groups" will play off for the right to contest a knock-out semi-final against the winner of the "Elite group", while the second and third placed teams of the Elite group also contest a semi-final.

The winners of these semi-finals will play a final to determine the overall winner of the League for the season.

Note; Taken this information from where I could source it online, I can't find an 'official' website as such. If anyone can, that'd be grand.

There, people can now discuss the Manchester United vs Tottenham match that is currently going on rather than clogging up other threads ;)

missed the keeper part :o

Really? ;)

On the topic of the match; I hate Paddy Crerand so much he does my head in.

The goal from Macheda was a bit lucky, it's been a relatively scrappy and physical match so far with not too many clear cut chances.

Good to see Fletcher & Evans getting minutes especially.

I really want this league format to take off as the supplement to the prem as it seems a better way of getting round no one wanting to fund a whole reserves squad for a pointless league, plus our academy has cloned the same player 4 times (they are all small, blond and are good on the ball) which should be fun to see how they develop.

Have you seen an official site with the tables etc on it at all?

I can't seem to find a place for news / fixtures etc.

A solid 2-1 win in the end, shame about the penalty that was never a penalty but hey :p

Really pleased to see Fletcher getting games, I hope he makes it back to playing properly it'd be fantastic for the lad. Good to see Evans getting sharper too, hopefully up to speed for the first team soon.

Tonight the games are:

Reading v Everton
Blackburn v Bolton
Newcastle v Southampton
Chelsea v Liverpool

Could be a good set of games, might tune in to the Chelsea v Liverpool one to see what Marin is like.

Hope you didn't tune in just to watch Marin because he was rubbish. Liverpool on the other hand were very impressive - finished 4-1 and could/should have been more.

Our new youngster Yesil missed a couple of decent chances but his general play and movement were exceptional for a player of his age.

Nay I didn't in the end - got caught up with packing as I'm off moving tomorrow.
