i was thinking of cutting a hole out of the boring side and the other sheet that the motherboard sits on to put in a big 250mm fan to cool the under side of my motherboard and make that side a bit more interesting. does this seem strange? is there a reason i shouldnt?

Don't know but their must be a reason otherwise company's would have done it by now. Probably because it won't really do anything apart from looks?

Also you wouldn't have any cable management on the case as you'll have a 250mm fan in the way!

Some cases have a fan behind the CPU, like on this (Image 13 shows it well), but I don't think it really does much. Somebody will know why and how etc, just have to wait.

I have CM-690 II Avanced & experimented with fitting various size fans behind the motherboard & have noticed no avantages in cooling.

Prehaps if your a mad overclocker, then you might see some benefits.
