Under counter bin

Our kitchen is long and fairly narrow with no easy placement for a bin when cooking.
Theres a section in the middle of the under counter cupboards thats just 3 shelves, im assuming this was put in to bridge the gap between units from my kitchen being an odd length or something.
We currently use it for pots and pans but im thinking about taking out the shelves and fitting some kind of bin under there, maybe something on a rail.
Found this on amazon:

Looks ideal but the only drawback is no lid to keep smells in, i know this sort of bin is designed to fit into an actual cupboard but with our kitchen being such an old one i doubt theres anyway to find a matching cupboard front to fit into this gap.
Any other ideas guys? Some kinda pull out bin with a lid would be brilliant

Nowhere at all for a free standing bin ? I'd not be wanting to lose shelving space for one and integrated bins outside of showrooms always seem to end up with splatter around them from people chucking stuff in. Pain to keep clean :(

I'll get some pics in a bit but nowhere easily accessible for like throwing odd bits in while preparing/cooking.
One side is my hallway and the other side is the utility through a small archway, we used to have the bin in here but its where the dogs live and narrow to get through especially where the bin was.
We put a dishwasher in so lost cupboard space from that, but the main thing is the only decent spot to put a bin is opposite the dishwasher door which when opened nearly touches the otherside of the kitchen cupboards

i'd never go back from an integrated bin so much more convenient that a free standing as it can easily be right in the heart of your cooker/fridge/sink triangle so far more convenient. I find ours no worse for cleaning than the standalone bin in the previous kitchen.

Been looking around the kitchen for more ideas and thought that the left cupboard of the two under the sink would be a good bet for an under counter bin also and wouldn’t take much clearing out.
Think that’s what I’m going to go with

We went for a 300mm pull out bin unit in our new kitchen. It's next to the hob unit and below where we'' do the prep. It also falls nicely into the golden triangle.

Perhaps see if you ca recycle your door onto a new unit?

Ikea waste sorting bins are a cheap way to do this. Only issue you'll have is finding a rail/cupboard door to fit them into.

I want an under counter bin as well, but all of the ones you can buy on line that look decent are so expensive - I'm not paying £200 for a bloody bin!

Just noticed the link above was the same :) - echo'd!

Had ours for 3 years and its still in great shape, the lid closes as you shut it so stops most smells.
