hi,

Just bought a few bits and built myself a system. When I was setting up i noticed i can not set the ram to its default speed of 1866mhz i could only set it to 1600mhz without blue screening before windows boot

spec:
Intel i7 920
gigabyte ex58 extreme mobo
bfg nvidia gtx 295
corsair ddr3 1866mhz 3x1gb
corsair 850watt

things i have tried is setting XMP to profile1 which detects and sets all the ram timing and voltages to correct spec and SPD multi to auto, no success tried SPDx14 i think which put it at 1866mhz and still blue screens.

I have tried setting it manually 9-9-9-24/1.66volts cos it wont give you the option of 1.65volts

Is there anything else i may of missed that might be causing a conflict or have not setup right to get it to sit at default 1866mhz

I am very new to this stuff but keen to learn so is there anyone can help on this issue

thanks Mack

ps forgot to say i have premium 64bit vista

i tried the latest bios update

i had them set on auto and also qpi/vtt 1.255volts up to 1.355 which was max i could set at according to info i read

how do you mean speed as in cpu or gfx card?

cpu was at standard which i tired all that. I then tried overclocking the cpu to 3.2ghz which was all ok and ram on 1600mhz but still wont not go past that

check if the voltage which mobo gives to your ram is the same as your ram requires. i think it should be somewhere in M.I.T. bios option menu

set the timings manually to whatever they are rated at, then set the voltage and put up the ram multiplier so that ram multiplier x bus = 1866.

It is very possible that the board has set the latencies too low
