Playing around with Rivatuner, and am considering underclocking when in 2D mode to reduce temps and hence fan speeds. So what would be a sensible underclock to run windows at 1920 x 1200?

Well since you hardly need any of the power in the GTX to run windows desktop, I'd go pretty low.

From another thread on here where another user was doing the same as you, I think he found you couldn't clock the card as low as he would like to go so performance shouldn't be the issue.

Hopefully you will find a nice quiet underclock.

Be careful not to underclock the card too much.

There is a relationship between clock speed and core voltage for optimal stability. As you drop the clock speed you keep the same core voltage - effectively over-volting the card. This can be damaging in the long term, and may reduce the lifespan of your card.

Now you've got me scared. I'm trying 450Mhz and 800 Memory. It's dropped my temps from 79C to 75C (at 45% fan), which is OK, but not worth ruining the card for.
