Underclocking?

[On Holiday]

I leave my PC on overnight to download, so would like to underclock to get temps as low as possible so I don't wake up hot..)

I don't know a lot about OC'ing but I know higher voltage = higher temps.

Anybody know what the lowest vcore I could set to if I underclock to around 2.4ghz or so?


I have an Intel i7 3820 at stock 3.9GHz @ 1.28v - ASUS P9X79 PRO

I'm assuming I don't have it enabled as it's constant 3.9ghz, and I haven't been in the BIOS to change it.. Will do that now and see how that goes.

Currently got it at 2.2ghz, 1.070 vcore, 29 - 34'c

Got it to 2.4ghz at 1.070vcore, then shut down PC to check if speedstep was on and it reset itself.. Perhaps I should save my profiles in the ASUS AI Suite..
