Underlay for stairs and landing?

After sadly getting ripped off last time Im going to buy the underlay myself this time but do I need any different type for the stairs? In an older thread the below site was linked to and Cloud9 recommend, is there anything better for the job?

I've just had cloud 9 11m underlay put down in living room, bedroom, stairs and landing. It's lovely! So soft, and ridiculously thick!!

Cloud 9 is so 2008.

To answer the question, it doesn't really matter. Any carpet fitter will work with the thickness of underlay and carpet for stairs.

We did it proper and got Wilson 56oz wool underlay all over. It's pure win.

Cloud 9 here and would definitely recommend it, although I buy my rolls from eBay as it worked out cheaper than that website.

Any reason to get 11 mm over 9 mm underlay?

Get the thickest underlay you can, I recently bought underlay and carpet from Carpetright for my hall, stairs and landing. I now know I could have got underlay a lot cheaper, I paid like £8.99 per square meter (I choose the thickest they had) but I've recently found similar underlay for £3.99 per square meter.

The reason to choose thicker underlay? It feels awesome to walk on

Have fitted Cloud 9 Cumulus Luxury Carpet Underlay - 11mm. This alone felt amazing and the room became a lot more quiter and warmer. Once the carpet was added more impressive. Just bought a roll for my stairs. All use it within the house all round.
