Underperforming Rig

My new rig

Q6600 clocked to 3.0ghz
2gm ram
9800 gtx+ (slight overclock)
Asus P5QC
XP

Seems to be sluggish in games compared to my old rig

Q6600 (3.2ghz)
2gb ram
8800gts (512mb)
Abit IP35 Pro
vista

I didnt think the 0.2 ghz on the processor would make much difference, which makes me think its the 9800. I have updated all the drivers and still no improvement. An example is brothers in arms hells highway, i used to have everything on high and it would run smooth but now its just unbearable to play on high. Whats wrong?

Possibly vista is giving the poor performance, especially with 2gb ram.

Did you just use the same HDD and do and upgrade to vista or was it a fresh install?

You will need 4GB of ram with Vista for it to shine

think you reading it wrong guys, my old rig had vista and ran faster. My current one is xp.

The HDD is new but same capacity, cache and seek time.

tried many of nvidia's site. Could the actual card be damaged in some way?

destroyed the old rig by dropping a cup of water into it, insurance took it away and replaced it, so sadly i dont have the 8800.

i knew it! 8800 rules the day

but seriously, it could be the fan speed on the 9800 doesnt cool it as much as the 8800 at default, i run an 8800 and its never overheated with 30% speed, always around 50celcius or lower, max is about 55..
try getting ntune out and checking it up, maybe faulty 9800, or on a wild card because it cant have direct x 10 the 9800 card is unhappy and doesnt do as good as the 8800!
