Ugh, had a great big post typed out then lost it, but basicly it boiled down to: Can I get a slave card now and use it on it's own, then if I want crossfire later, just buy a master card and hook it up? I only ask as the normal x1950XT-X cards are slightly cheaper than the master one on the site. :)
 
You've just managed to confuse me even more. "do i need to buy the master card, or can i just buy a slave for now" "yes but you need to buy the master card".... what?!
 
he's saying the number 1950 has to be the same, ie make sure you don't buy a 1900 master card. So yeah buy a slave and stick a master in later. make sure mobo is compatible as well
 
Cool beans :)

The mobo I've selected is the Asus P5B Delux, which says it's crossfire compatible, so that should be ok.
