I've come to the conclusion that an overclocked HD 7970 + RadeonPro SMAA injectors on a 1080p display is overkill, so I left my HD 7970 at the 1GHz stock performance. The voltage is 1.175v at default. I've managed to bring it down to 1.050v and it has remained stable in Unigine Heaven 3.0 and a 30min Kombuster sit through. The max temp in Kombuster was 60C after 30mins and 54C in Unigine Heaven. Just wondering, why did Sapphire set the voltage so high for 1Ghz?

I guess to make sure that almost all chips will be stable at that voltage- less risk of instability with the worse binned chips. The other way you can think of it is the stock speed is comparatively low when it can be overclocked so much on stock voltage. I run my 7950 at 1000/1400 on stock voltage (0.993v core/1.6v memory)
