Hi,

I am trying to modify an existing site but i cant seem to delete an image to replace it with one I created...

Dreamweaver states its "uneditable text" there is this line at the top of the page also "codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" -->"

pls help me resolve this issue...

oh btw Im a complete n00b as most of u regulars know by now...what do I have to do to be able to edit this text?

Thanks in advance....

Cheers!!!

nope trouble is when i highlight it to try and edit it to "true" it just wont let me...it wont change...nothing at all...its like its locked i realise it is but it just wont let me edit it in anyway...

i went to view, source in actual page and it will let me change it there but when i go to view the page it wont display the image i replaced it with..altho the replacement image is precisely the same dimensions as the original one...instead it has an image holder there instead...

why would anyone want to lock the text lol...how random...

pls help

thanx...

sussed it :D

in dreamweaver you open the html page in question, then go to modify, click on templates, then click on "detach from templates"

as I am modifying this site well all of 1 gif does this mean that the original creator used a template instead of creating the design themselves?

pls clarify??

thanks in advance..

what are the pro's n con's doing it that way?

sorry im a n00b so i like to find out all this stuff :)

thanx

Pro's - you can attach a template to many forms therefore saving time creating the individual forms each time

Con's - As in your case, when you want to edit a small part of a form can be complicated as it could start editing the template aswel + may not let you as it is attached to the template

well that is just from my experience anyway and im sure different programming software will vary but im sure thats just about right

Pros - it means people don't have to learn how to do it properly so they can knock up stuff quickly

Cons - it's totally retarded and CSS is far better, if you feel like learning it :)
