Hi there,

I've noticed a few changes today with my internet experience. Firstly Google have made some changes to their search engine/website. Secondly all of my web browsers have changed their default fonts (Firefox/ IE 9). I don't like this font and I most certainly didn't put it on myself. I went through a series of potential solutions as you do with any problem:

I reset my systems font settings to default.
I reset my browsers settings to default.
Uninstalled/disabled any browser addons/plugins.
I deleted any custom windows themes and set it to the default.
Various restarts throughout all of these changes.

Nothing has changed. It refuses to change this font. I'm not sure if this is related to the google update, I don't use Google Chrome, though I did in the past, and it isn't installed so I'm fairly certain that it can't have affected my machine in that way.

So after some thorough searching on the interweb I have found very little information and no cases similar to mine. Can anyone help me?

So far I have determined that this font must be something to do with the system itself as it affects multiple browsers, not one individually. I think it even affects the Steam login form unless I am confused or paying more attention to detail than usual.

It does not affect this text I am typing for this post right now, google searches and results, however it does almost entirely on Facebook and certain bits of misc text.

Look forward to hearing if anyone else is having this problem or any potential solutions.

Thank you for reading.

Actually, I have the same problem too. It happened right after a Windows update on the 29th June. Some fonts on some site such as OcUK looks fine, but sites like Facebook, well, I don't know, it doesn't seem right...

So I'm guessing a certain Windows update caused this...

Aye, thinking back, I did notice that some fonts appeared a bit wierd, If anyone here remembers the thread in GD whereby some dude posted a screenshot of his paypal account and others were calling shenanagins due to the font looking borked, M's and W's were the most susceptable.

Cheers.

Ok, I've checked out that update and installed the one appropriate for my OS. Nothing has changed and so I'm a little confused. That was supposed to fix fonts because they were broken in the first place? I find these new fonts blurry and too small.

The problem has extended to my e-mails now. Any unformatted e-mails will have their font set to some big ugly bold thing. Think I'll be looking at MS support to solve this problem.

The update is KB2545698. If you don't like the fonts, you could surely just uninstall the update from the Windows Update window.
