unfinalised dvd help

hi

Im trying to recover data from some unfinalised dvds, my dvd rom drive does not find any data on the them but using ISOBuster it seems to locate an open session with about 8 tracks.

Im not sure what I do from here?

I have tried extracting to TAO file which is the only option it gives me but I would like to re-burn to a new dvd.

Is there an easy way to do this?

You should be able to extract to a container file like .iso that you can open with 7zip etc and extract the individual files.

Have you tried to open the file with 7zip?

Hi

No, to be honest when comes to this kind of stuff Im a bit lost.

All I know so far is nero and isobuster can see data on the disks but when it comes to nero it can see data but says theres no dvd in drive when I attempt to try anything

ok I have run isobuster and has found vts and vob files?

I cant go much further as I would need a license as just using free version.

what would I need to do after this Im guessing I would need to extract the files and convert them?

Vob files are dvd files, you just need to extract them and then burn them.

what are IFO files? Isobuster has recovered a few of these as well

I guess i need to get the full version of iso buster then.

Also what software is good for burning vob files, sorry Im new to all this

IFO and BUP files contain information such as menus and chapters, just extract them all. Imgburn is free software that can burn DVDs.

thanks, I purchased Isobuster so hope it works or its money down the drain.

I did try other software like nero but it was useless!

sorry for being a numpty but I now have files extracted 3 vob files and 2 ifo files

so all looking good , do I need to put these into an image file first using imgburn?

No, theoretically you should just be able to put them into a folder called VIDEO_TS and then select the write files/folders to disk option.

Since it was not finalised though it may be necessary to use DVD authoring software to create new IFO files etc from the VOB files.

The VOB files should play in VLC in any case.

I managed to play parts of the vob files using windows movie maker.

Will check to see if I can burn a dvd from this program today
