Start with the B and A strings played simultaniously, then desend through the G and D srings and back to the B srting over and over. Then change to the Am chord at the appropriate moment.

The Guitar Pro file I have on my lappy here shows what Bigpops was referring to. Subtle variations in the picking for the first few bars..
Used to cover this in an old band when I left college, the crowd loved it and sadly one of my fondest memories was when people sang along and held lighters up! Didn't have to sing the chorus at all, they did it all
