A couple of weeks ago I had my supercar in for its annual service and MOT at a main dealer, who up to now have looked after me very well.
Car gets delivered back (I have the car collected/delivered as part of the service to keep the miles down) and all seems fine.
Come to tax the car so that I can go to Supercarfest last w/e and find it's showing as having no valid MOT - I just assumed that this was an admin error but was very ****** off at not being able to use the car - I only use it a handful of times a year for shows like Supercarfest and Blenheim Palace.
Been on to the dealer today to get this matter sorted and find out that they 'forgot' to do the MOT when the car was in for the service - unbelievable!
Car now has to go back for MOT.
Would you expect some kind of compensation for this cockup, and if so what would your level of expectation be?

Do it all for free. After all, they charged you for doing the MOT, didn't they? You say that they've looked after you very well up to now, so why poison the relationship? Everyone makes mistakes, so just let them fix it. With regards to the car show, assuming you passed your test before 2001, what was stopping you hiring a small flatbed truck and some ramps and taking your supercar on that? You can drive your supercar on private land without a MOT.

Dealer serviced but forgot to MOT my truck at the end of last year - didn't get it MOT'd for free but they did collect and drop the vehicle off to do the MOT and knocked £10 off the MOT.

I bet a dealer MOT cost is already £10-£20 more expensive than taking it to your local in and out MOT mill. Cheapskates.

TBF the dealer has responded quickly and offered to sort it out at their own expense.

It's the fact that I've got to be present for when the car is collected/delivered again and the fact that I couldn't use it last w/e that annoys me the most.

each to their own but there's no way i'd let anyone else drive my supercar if i had one. i don't w/ my putzy little VW, certainly wouldn't let anyone get behind the wheel of a Supra/whatever.

I get my car collected and returned to me after a service at the main dealer. They look after it, giving it an inspection of any cosmetic damage which they note so as not to cause anymore. They’re very careful with it.

Further update:

The dealer has been on the case to find out how this mistake happened and hopefully prevent it from happening again.
As I say, they have arranged, at their own expense, to have the car collected/returned for the MOT asap and have offered me suitable compensation to keep me happy, which I think is a fair result.

It's going to be low loadered no one's mentioned anyone getting to rag a supercar about

Seems a lot of hassle to go through for an MOT, the weather is glorious is it really too difficult to enjoy a lovely drive in said supercar to and from the MOT station?

As others have said I always opt to drive my own cars to the dealers rather than having someone drive or collect them.
