Just been to pick up tickets for the Loughborough Graduate Ball this summer.... 5 @ £49 each. This is the cheapest option, VIP tickets (£69, but including a 3 course meal in a marquee outside the union) were sold out.

Just wondering how much they charge for this kind of thing at other places.

The Union in Loughborough can hold 3,500 on a night, but supposedly they "undersell" by about 1,000 for the grad ball so it's not too crowded. So, assuming 2,500 sales at £50ish each, that's £125,000 that this event will generate in ticket sales.

I wonder how much gets ploughed back in to the event, and how much is kept back for other stuff next year.

The lineup isn't exactly my thing but should be a laugh (holywood theme)....

Rachel Stevens and Wheetus are the main two artists, along with Tabby & the Tsars and a Rat Pack trio tribute band.

Outside is a comedy tent, fairground rides, a "love chapel" (ooo-er), fireworks, fire performers etc. Elsewhere indorors are a string quartet, baloon modeller, magician, karaeoke and a Caricaturist, a casino, Paul Robinson from Neighbours and live indy music. Another room will be showing holywood classic films with another room playing RnB anthems all night ("headlining Dj" to be confirmed).

At £49 each for a ticket, £30-40 or so for Tux hire, and somewhere to stay for the night (term and therefore my tenancy will have finished) and money for alcohol it could end up being bloody expensive!!

At Robinson college in Cambridge a couple of years back it was £75 inclusive of food & alkyhol. Definitely got my money's worth though on both counts :D :D

Though I'm not graduating or going, the Birmingham Uni one has Rachel Stevens and Goldie Lookin Chain, and has a funfair and a few other things, that costs £59.

Trinity College ball for non junior members (ie undergrads) is £310 for a double dining ticket. Everything if free once youre inside afaik. You cant buy a single ticket. As a member of staff thats what I paid to take me and the missus for her birthday.

Edit: suffice to say, I will only be going the once I think.

ours is £20 for a meal and shizzle, and then booze suit and transport,.....but who cares its at st james park :D:D:D:D:D (newcastle fc ground) cept ours if college ball not uni

Got a graduation ball that's no dinner for £20. And a Summer Ball (which also has Rachel Stevens in it, 'yay') which is £40.

That's all I know. Not at all interested in either.

£40, we rented out a huge field on a hill outside Pompey. One Casino tent with the university of portsmouth big band, one dance tent, one bands tent - headliners Blue who cost £40, 000. Fun fair, coaches to and from the site and champange brekkie from 4am to 8am when you got back to the union.

I'm not a Rachel Stephens fan... last year they had Ash as one of the main acts.... makes we wish I didn't take a year out!!

Ours (Reading Uni) is around £40a and in terms of entertainments we got:

In the 'Big Top Party Stage': Bjorn Again (Abba Tribute Act), The Real Thing (Some group I've never heard of!?), Dave Finnegan's Commitments.

In the '3Sixty Music Stage': The Rakes, Delays and The Imperial Vipers

Attractions include:

Fairground Rides, Chillout Lounge, Urban Dance Room, Catering Zone, Outside Bars, Surf Simulator, Heated Patio, Monster Truck, Ball Photographer, Survivors Photo, 6am Licence, 60 foot Bar and Street Entertainers

Ours is a department one rather than faculty or uni wide.

£30 IIRC for dinner and dance. Not going. Can't wait to get out this place and I have no intention of spending any more time with screaming drunken students than I need to.

In other news, my 6th form ball was at the Adelphi in Liverpool. One lad got battered and ended up sleeping the night in a chair in the lobby. The hotel sent a bill for a single room to the school!

Don't you love the way they opperate their business :p

Couple more years to go for me, until I hit the Grad Ball thing. All the balls we had so far were roughly £25, I only want to the freshers one, needless to say it was somewhat poop ;\
