The net in my halls was terrible, sod all speed and up and down like a tarts knickers. Anything other than basic web browsing was impossible no msn,p2p,online gaming or anything like that.

Manchester is one of the better universites when it comes to speed in halls. I remember at warwick having gigabit in halls and that was about 5 years ago...internet speeds was still pretty dire and caused lots of complaints.

Best thing when I was in halls at Manchester was the connection was synchronous iirc, made it a breeze hosting websites/teamspeak/ventrillo servers and game servers.
