Hi all, just wondering, I have been told by a friend that you get "a lot Less Loan In The Third Year" I was just wondering A) Is this true? B) How much is "a lot Less"? As I will be living at uni untill the end of August 2009, due to my rent contract, and if I get less loan I may be in trouble.... Thanks!

I don't think you do, it's all measured on the same scale...

EDIT: unless they give you less because you don't need to get through the whole year, only until you graduate.

I've not taken one out, so I can't give a definitive answer.

You get less because you don't have to get money across the summer supposedly. My limit was £1200 which I got, although it's only about £107 a month. Wish you got more in the final year as I don't have as much free time for a job so just live on less and have no money always :(

I got exactly the same in all three years.

I graduated in summer '07.

I'm currently studying in 3rd year & recieve the exact same amount this year as the last two.

The inconsistancies would suggest you drop a line to your LEA/student loans (whoever is most applicable for you) and ask them.

That or dig out your student finance schedule which you should have recieved last august/september- that will detail your totals and dates.

I got roughly the same, but the fact it's your final year, the debts tend to add up so it's really a lot less than you'd imagine.

I got less in my final year, think it was a third less. Hit me where it hurt as I really could have used the money then. But the bright side, I have less to pay back as a result.

Phew was getting worried I'd be getting less next year then! Not sure I see the logic in them reducing it to be honest, surely if you have finals you have even less chance of working to make up the short fall?
