Uni Loans - Final Year Question

I also got quite a bit less in my final year, think it was about £600-£700. As the website says, you do get less. If your unsure, just give the SLC a call and ask them :)

I think its because usually in your first and second year, you have the summer months when you are technically a student. In your final year you finish in May/June so you only get student loan to cover you until then.

Why do you get less in your final year then? I don't get it :/

The theory is that you dont need to be covered over the Summer. In practice this is rubbish, most students go home over the Summer anyway, and if anything in your Final Year your ability to work to earn money is less than it was in the previous years as the workload is higher.

how have people got on when you have ended up at uni for longer than 4 years ? been considering what to do at uni, have a few different choices but no idea what the student loans company say about that, the debt doesnt particulerly bother me but people seem to be telling me different things.

How come I couldn't get the max maintenance loan? This year I got £3385, apparently I could have got £4,500ish? Next year apparently I can get about £4280... I want that amount, why wouldnt I be allowed?

It IS less - check the Student Loan company website. I think I got about £700 less this year.

I've had THE same throughout all my years. In fact, looking back, my last year was slightly more by £33. lol

Do you live at home or on campus?

Last year (my first year) I lived in a rented house as I applied to uni late. This year I applied on time but was only able to get £3385 - I live in a rented student let again.
