Hi! I've not posted here for a while but please come to my rescue!

When I turned my PC off last night everything was well. But this morning it has decided not to connect to the internet with an "Unidentified Network" name showing in the Network And Sharing Center.

I've had a look online for resolutions to the problem.

I've diasabled/enabled the ethernet controller on my motherboard.
I've restarted the router.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled ethernet drivers.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled new ethernet drivers.
I've uninstalled recent windows updates.
I've restored deleted files for a CCleaner clean last night.

This crappy laptop is working but it really is not suitable to help me with my Uni assignments! Especially with deadlines just around the corner.

Please help guys!

Cheers.

Edit: I am running Windows 7.

I had this problem

Try this , to reset your TCP/IP stack and the Winsock ..

For these commands, Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults Type: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults Type: netsh int ip reset reset.log

Nope! No luck but thanks!

Why on early would it just decide to not want to connect all of a sudden...

I really can do without doing a reinstall of windows!

If you type "ipconfig /all" in a dos prompt what are you getting ?

Is it possible that your DHCP server (probably your router/firewall) has died ?

Cheers for the ideas but I've managed to fix it.

We use homeplugs to connect my computer to the router in the other room. It turns out that one of the plugs had died. All is good now. :D

I have not excuses not to do work now :p
